What Is a TH Type Roots Air Blower?
A TH type Roots air blower is a Trundean rotary lobe blower from Taiwan that delivers a steady volume of low-pressure air. Models TH-40 to TH-300A move about 0.6 to 117.8 m³/min (36 to 7,068 m³/h) at up to 0.6 kgf/cm² (about 6,000 mmAq). Techno Bangla Creation supplies them in Bangladesh for ETP, WTP, fish farms and conveying.
The TH type is one model family in our Roots air blower range. For very large, continuous aeration, also compare a turbo blower.
- Models TH 40 to TH 300 A
- Pressure up to 6000 mmAq (about 58.8 kPa)
- Motor 1 to 300 HP on 380 to 440 V, 3 phase, 50 Hz

Airflow depends on the model and the pressure you run at. Send us your duty point and our engineers will confirm the right TH model and the matching motor.
How a Roots Air Blower Works
- Air IntakeAir is drawn in through the intake filter and silencer.
- Rotors Trap AirTwo synchronized rotors turn in opposite directions and trap a fixed volume of air.
- Air Is CarriedThe trapped pockets of air are moved around the casing to the outlet side.
- Air Is DischargedThe air is pushed into the pipeline against the system pressure.
- Air Reaches the ProcessPiping carries it to air diffusers or a conveying line.
Key Benefits
- Steady airflow that stays almost constant as system pressure changes
- Wide motor range, 1 to 300 HP, from small ETPs to large plants
- Oil-free air path, typical of rotary lobe designs
- Simple, proven design that has been in use for over 150 years
- Copes with flow swings and frequent start-stop duty
- Runs on Bangladesh grid power, 380 to 440 V, 3 phase, 50 Hz, with local support
Where TH Type Roots Blowers Are Used
Effluent Treatment Plant
Supplies air to the biological tank so bacteria can break down organic pollutants in factory wastewater.
Water Treatment Plant
Provides air for aeration and air scouring in water treatment and filtration stages.
Aquaculture and Biofloc
Keeps dissolved oxygen up in fish and shrimp ponds and biofloc tanks with a continuous air supply.
Flour Industry
Roots blowers are a common air source for pneumatic conveying of powders and grains.
Paper Industry
Delivers process air and conveying duty where a steady, oil-free air supply is needed.
Cement Industry
Used for conveying and aeration of bulk cement and fine materials in silos and lines.
Is a TH Type Roots Blower Right for You?
Choose a TH Type Roots Blower When
- The plant is small or medium and the load changes during the day
- The blower starts and stops often
- You need air for fish farming, conveying or process use
- Upfront cost is the main limit
- Back pressure can change, for example with tank water level
Look at a Turbo Blower When
- Aeration runs continuously for many hours a day
- Flow is large and fairly steady
- Power cost is high and energy savings matter
- Noise and floor space are tight
- See our turbo blower page.
How to Choose the Right TH Model
Share these details with our engineers and we will recommend a suitable model and motor.
- Airflow. The air your process needs, based on oxygen demand (BOD, COD) or the conveying rate.
- Discharge pressure. Every 1 m of water above the diffusers needs about 1000 mmAq, plus pipe and diffuser losses. Keep a margin below the 6000 mmAq rating.
- Site air temperature. Hot air is less dense and lowers output. Ask for performance at your real inlet temperature.
- Noise. If the blower room is near staff or neighbours, specify silencers and an acoustic enclosure.
- Power supply and control. 380 to 440 V, 3 phase, 50 Hz. Add a VFD if airflow must follow a changing load.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does “TH type” mean, and how is it different from THS, THW and THV?
TH is Trundean’s air-cooled pressure-conveyance series. THS adds partial water cooling for higher pressure, up to about 8,000 mmAq. THW is water-cooled with higher motor sizes, and THV is a vacuum version. Tell us your duty and we match the series.
What do the model numbers TH-40 to TH-300A mean?
Models step up in frame size. The TH-40 has a 1.5" outlet, about 0.97 m³/min and up to 1 HP. The TH-300A has a 12" outlet, 117.8 m³/min and up to 200 HP. Send your airflow and pressure and we pick the frame.
How many m³/h does a TH blower deliver?
Multiply m³/min by 60. The TH-40 delivers up to about 58 m³/h, and the TH-300A up to about 7,068 m³/h. Many Bangladesh listings quote m³/h, so convert before comparing.
Is the air from a TH blower oil-free?
Trundean states the rotors need no lubrication, because the timing gears and bearings sit in separate sealed chambers. If your process needs certified oil-free air, ask us for the ISO 8573 class from the datasheet.
Can I use a Roots blower for fish farming and biofloc?
Yes. The TH type is listed for aquaculture, including fisheries and biofloc, where a continuous air supply keeps dissolved oxygen up in ponds and tanks. Tell us your pond or tank volume and water depth so we can size the blower and diffusers.
What should a complete TH blower package include?
A full package normally lists a base frame, safety valve, pressure gauge, motor, pulley and V-belts, belt guard, suction and discharge silencers, flexible joint, check valve and short pipe. Confirm each item appears in your quotation before you compare prices.
Are Roots blowers noisy and how is noise controlled?
Roots blowers pulse because air is delivered in pockets, which creates noise. Three-lobe rotors reduce pulsation compared with two-lobe rotors, and plants normally add intake and discharge silencers and an acoustic enclosure. Tell us if the blower room is close to staff or neighbours.
How can I get a quotation and after-sales support?
Send your required airflow, pressure and application to our engineers by phone or email. We reply with a free quotation, and Techno Bangla Creation provides installation, commissioning and after-sales support for treatment plant equipment across Bangladesh.
