What Is a Fine Bubble Diffuser Disc?
A fine bubble diffuser disc is a round aeration device fitted near the bottom of a tank. Compressed air from a blower passes through many tiny slits in a flexible membrane, releasing bubbles about 1 to 3 mm wide. Small bubbles give oxygen more surface to dissolve into water, so bacteria get oxygen using less air.

How to Choose the Right Fine Bubble Diffuser

- Oxygen demand and airflow. Give us the flow, BOD or COD load and tank volume. Real wastewater transfers less oxygen than clean water, typically 0.4 to 0.8 times for fine bubble. Run every disc inside its rated airflow.
- Tank depth and blower pressure. Each metre of water adds about 1,000 mmAq of back pressure, plus pipe and diffuser losses. Our Trundean Roots blowers are rated 1 to 70 m³/min at 1,000 to 10,000 mmAq. More depth gives more oxygen transfer.
- Layout and floor coverage. Spread discs across the floor to avoid dead zones where solids settle. Keep pipes slightly above the floor so solids do not pack around them.
